Theres no point in reving
it higher than this.

I can think of one reason why you would want to rev higher - going through
a turn you won't want to come off the throttle - and if you had a couple
more revs you could get that little extra speed you need.  I would say it's
rare (maybe) but wouldn't say there's never a need to go higher than
maximum power. Of course I've never raced - I could be wrong.  sz
