Alarm reality
Well, as stated if they want it bad enough....Anymore, the most common type of
car theft where I am located is.... The theives own tow trucks, yes, tow
trucks. Alarms or not, they pull up and tow it away, and how many people will
question a car being towed even if the alarm is going off. The pagers are
USELESS, it only takes a good thief 19seconds to be off with your car, by the
time you realize your pager is going off he is accross town and the griders and
sawzall's are already buzzing.
Alarms prevent in many cases 'joy ride' theft by punks.
To help prevent theft [even of wheels (on the front), including tow truck
theft];
Have an alarm with ignition kill -or
Have a kill switch -or
Remove your coil wire -or
Remove your cap
-and for tow/front wheel theft
Always try to park front end in against a parking bump with
your wheels turned in. Its hard to tow a car out from the rear
with the front tires wanting to turn the car. Plus at worst they
will only be able to get a lug wrench on 2~3 of the wheels.
Another cool thing to do on VW's with power lock option is to shave your door
handles and have keyless entry/keyless entry alarm. This can prevent the
screwdriver theft and ugly Armor door plates.
