Well if I am not mistaken, one of the big delay's in getting the TDI
into the Golf/Jetta Platform were the older motor mount style-- which
currently allow for alot of engine swaps between the 3 platforms.  The
Golf TDI you saw was probably on the new MK IV platform (externally it
still resembles the MK III).

Like anything, I am sure it can be done, but it wouldn't be a simple
swap.  You'd have to build custom mounts. Don't forget the wiring
harness as well, though not as tough.
