Hi,  I can get an engine out of a '85 Jetta Carat.  What I know:
engine has about 55K miles or 92K Km on it
has CIS-E injection
1.8 L 8V
Hyd. Lifters

Is this engine code GX???  How can I tell.
Is it a 10:1 comp. engine?
The car had the close ratio gear box but that's been sold (DAMN !!) 
If i put it with the wider ration box, is that OK??
