Not Happy - struggling to start after sitting for 8 hours in 0
degrees celsius (32 deg. F.) I get the feeling that one or two degrees
colder and I'm going to be looking for a jump start.
>How old is the battery?
2 years old.
>Which Die Hard is it -- ie what warranty does it have
Not sure about which one - I got this one under warranty from the
first one.
>Did you clean the terminals?
Nope. I'll check Bentley for the safe way to do this. Any suggestions?
>Is it full of water?
It uses water? Just kidding. I haven't checked, but I will. What
causes the water level to drop?
>How much are you prepared to spend on the new one?
That's a tough one. How about - enough to ensure that it will start
in temps. as low as -25 deg. C.
>Do you care about how much it weighs (F=ma)?
Not really - It follows that regardless of the value of 'm', if you
have value 'F' as zero (ie. car won't start), I'm not going to experience
bone jarring 'a' ;)
>How cold will it get there and how much is it woth to you that your car starts.
Where I live, maybe -10 deg. C. on the worst days but where I go
skiing -20 deg. C. isn't rare. At that temperature a car that starts is
priority #1.
So John (and anyone else with a little knowledge and an itchy typing
finger), if you were buying a new battery and you lived where winter is
really winter what would you be looking for? Whose name would be on the
side of the battery you bought?
Chris.
