OT, but cars- Reality is stranger than fiction?

Cathy,
I know for a fact that dealerships love to swap used cars. If they
don't think they'll make any money on it, they'll put them up for
auction and other dealers will buy them, or they'll trade with other
dealerships for cars that would be mutually beneficial to each. A few
years ago my wife bought a Saab 900 in Chicago. We did some checking
around, and found out it got traded in at one place, went through 4
dealers (via auction and cash swaps) before it ended up being buried in
a "budget" lot of a large dealership (where we found it). The place we
got it from wouldn't even dicker with us, they said they were barely
making any money on the car priced as it was (could be true, they may
just have wanted to get rid of it).

So in short, yes, that COULD be your car. Any tell-tale signs to look
for (besides the VIN, obviously)?
