A slide hammer, or you could re-install the 22mm nut, hold it upside down,
or put it in a vise, and use an air hammer to drive the cartridge out.

Disregard my previous email.........I got the cap off with a large pipe
wrench (it's great to have good neighbors).  Now the old strut cartridge is
stuck, any tips to get it out??
