Carbon on plugs and O2 sensor

Julie,
Can you give us some idea of what car you're talking about and any 
significant information about its configuration?
Like CIS, CIS-e, MS, what engine?

I suspect you can't do much for an O2 sensor other than wiping any excess 
carbon off.
