Passat fuel gauge
The problem may be the float has a hole in it and is partially filled with
gas, causing it to sit lower that it should. At least this is what happened
on my Scirocco.

Subject: OT: Passat fuel gauge
Since it's so slow, I'll throw in an OT bone.
My '95 Passat (VR6) that has a very pessimistic fuel gauge. It reads
lower that actual. When the guage reads half (about 9 gallons) you can
only put in about 6 gallons to fill up the tank. When it hits the red
lines at the bottom of the gauge, you will only put in about 14 gallons.
It's not so bad if your the only driver, you know how long the needle has
been sitting on the "red". When you have multiple drivers, you don't
really know how much fuel is left. I just want a more accurate indication
of fuel.
I'm thinking of pulling the sender and bending the float arm (by trial and
error) to fix this. Anyone else seen this problem or have any other ideas
how to fix this?
Thanks.
