You mean the 2 studs that stick up through the shock tower from the upper
strut bearing that have 13mm nuts on them are gone? If so make sure to get
a new strut bearing for each side.

Stick with the spring compressors. They are like $12 at harbor freight and
you will have them for life. What happens if the coils you can not tie
together spring out once you get it apart?
