Ditto on that. I've been under so much stress at work these past few weeks, that I'm about to walk out. Right now. Seriously.
Basically it boils down to this- I work for a company that contracts out tech people to other companies- basically killing the full-time tech employee, which is what I set out to do from college. Sort of killing my own career, but whatever. So I was put on a 4 day a week contract at this place. I've been here about 6 months now, everything seemed peachy. Well, my boss gets a call from the superintendent here saying that I'm doing a terrible job, if I were his employee he would have fired me, all of this crap that I'm doing wrong, that I have no clue about. So now I've got two weeks to kiss his ass and make sure he's happy or else we (the company I work for) looses the contract, which means I loose a job. Wouldn't you think if the 'super had a problem with something I was doing, he would tell me about it? I told my boss that I had no idea anything was wrong, that everyone else tells me how appreciative they are that I'm there- but all he told me was that the 'super is
not here to do my job and tell me what to do. But if I'm inadvertently doing something wrong, how the FUCK am I supposed to fix it if you do not tell me?????? There was also some griping about laziness, lack of leadership and motivation issues.... blah blah blah. Great, start attacking my character as well. Sure, I have a motivation problem, it's called being underpaid (WAY underpaid) without benefits.
I also work another job part-time in a bodyshop/custom paint/performance shop as well, and I'm basically doing that for free until we can get our name out. Thankfully I may have another job prospect on the way so it's not all as bad as it seems, but man it's just not worth the hassle and b.s.
Not to be a downer, but good luck with the new job! Hopefully you won't have to put up with the kind of assholes that I work for! :D

Since when? Most jobs fucking suck! :) Necessary evils in my book.
Unless you're one of those lucky bastards who's hobby/passion becomes
your career, trading your time for money is rarely the path to
fulfillment... And even then, 'da man' often has a nice way of
wrecking that by turning it into a drag (btdt)...
I've managed to avoid the 9-to-5 grind over the years for the most
part, and have found doing my own thing, although not as secure/steady
financially, keeps me sane. Giving the best hours of your day to make
someone else rich makes the baby jebus cry... Easy for a guy with no
kids/responsibilities to say though eh? :)
