Tranny grenade - thanks VW

So, as is seemingly inevitable with a 20 year old VW transmission, my
differential rivets bit the big one today:

As someone on the Vortex has said, I need to look at this as a
mechanical "opportunity."  Thankfully, I was moving somewhat slowly, and
it seems like I didn't eat the whole trans.  I'll know more when it gets
taken apart.  Now I just need to source some new parts and the diff bolt
kit.  Much as I want a limited slip diff, given the fact that I've spent
so much on this car this year, an additional $900 over the cost of
rebuilding the trans just isn't worth it to me, not with a stock engine
set up for merely "spirited" driving.  However, I might do the Peloquin
shims at about 10% of the cost.

So, if anyone has any extra 16V trans parts lying around, let me know.
I think I'll drop in a taller 5th while I'm at it, and Dan suggested a
3.94 final drive as well.  

I mean, I'm disappointed, but what're gonna do?
