Bilstein struts n shocks?
I don't know how I missed this thread. IMHO I feel that unless you're
racing the Bilsteins are overkill. They have a very hard setup for track
use but it's harsh for daily driving for the price. They also have a sport
setup but I've seen other sets that... well Bilsteins are better but I've
never been able to justify the price when a cup kit is everything for a
better value. I like the H&R cup kit, but I have Weitech (sp?) in my 91 GLI
and they're stiff without being horrible and low without being unusable on
city streets. Honestly they came with the car when I bought it and I would
never have looked at them otherwise, but I do like them. All I know is that
they're Weitech.

Don't know about best bang for buck, since all I've ever had in my 'Roc is
Bilsteins, but I have no complaints with those.
My philosophy is don't worry about bang-for-buck; just get the good stuff
and be done with it. That way you aren't second-guessing yourself every
time you turn the key.

I'm thinking of putting some Bilsteins on my 86 Jetta GLI?
I'm looking for a tight ride. Upgrading the car slowly and this year I
think it's gonna get some suspension work done. I have a upper tie bar to
install also.
Anybody got any input on the best bang for the $$$ on struts n shocks?
Right now I'm toying with either HD or Sports. I've got stock springs for
now with no added stiffness underneath or in back. Riding like a boat now
though so the shocks n struts gotta go this year. 8-)
Thanks
David
