Hehe, I like the way you think.  Although I never have the
spare cash to go mall-walking, it's always wrapped up in
these cars or the 172.

Again, key off?  I would normally tend to think frequency
valve, which is part of the fuel distributor.  But even
with the key on, it should only buzz for a few seconds,
then shut off 'til the car is started.
  
See if you can pinpoint a little more where the noise is
coming from.  Glad to hear you're making progress though!
