So I got back from a week in Cancun (it was great thanks for asking)
Saturday night at 11pm PST. Never seen so many VWs in my life. I am still
reeling from all the different types of Derbys, Lupos, Crossfoxs
and Pointers (they even have a Pointer truck). Get up Sunday and Sean and I
head for the yard looking for 2.0l distributors (unsuccessful but did find a
free set of good hatch struts) when I get a call from this guy I talked to 2
weeks ago about a MK1 rocco pull top. Originally he said he had an east
coast buyer and that I was too late but to my fortune he says the buyer has
backed out. He lived close to the yards we were scouring so we swing buy to
check it out. It turns out to be the complete roof section cut out from an
unfortunate scirocco with a badly tattered vinyl top and rusty metal
tracks. I am torn because of all the work this will entail to get it
operable but know these are not easy to come by and I have always wanted a
rag top. He will not drop down the price but says he will throw in some
wheels. The plot thickens. He shows me the first group of rims, 3- BBS 5
lug which look cool but I have no use for since I do not feel like
converting to 5 lug. The second group of rims, 3 - 13" rims from an early
BMW 320, also not very useful since the ET is very small. But the third
group is 3 - 13" Intra rims still in original boxes that I would not mind .
This still leaves me with 3 different types of rims with only 3 in each
set. So I cave because of the Scirocco junkie I am and buy it all. So if
anyone needs one or all three of any of these rims let me know because they
need a useful home and are cheap!

I am off to work out of town so I will not have any scirocco contact for 2
weeks or more :( Hopefully Karl can keep help me fill the void. Scott are
you still out there in SLC land? Got those MK1 euro bumpers mounted yet?
