Alighty then....
Oil pumps the mechanic started throwing jargon at me and my eyes
glazed over. I had three options and I think he said 36 mil would be
the largest I could put in the block (1.6) It's upgraded from the one
that I have. He quoted me $75 a few months ago it's $80 this week.
He might have said it was something to do with the size and harness of
the gears. I was like do it, do it... DOOOO IT
Sound about right? I know little to nothing on internals, which is a
fine red hair less than what I know about the rest of the car. (no
jokes, no offense to carrot tops--actually that phrase is a LOT worse
if "unabridged")
I am so ignorant about it I made him show me one as I had the
impression the pumping chamber was part of the block as is the case
with a waterpump. I think... LOL I did one on the 85 after I swapped
the 16v in it. I was concerned that the pump had damaged the block in
some way. He showed me props and explained to me why that would be
very difficult.
Also I am thinking that since I am paying him to remove the tranny
anyway how much more would it be to do the clutch. I am hoping that a
16v clutch kit WILL work IF I remove the 16v disk (wrong splines) and
buy an 8v disk with proper splines. Will the pressure plate and all
that work fine? An 8v disk is $40.
TIA
Chris
