I want to point out that I didn't have anything to do with the brakes failing!!
It was parked out in the street with my 16V behind it hiding the fact that it didn't have any plates. (still ended up getting a warning on it though. Bastids!). I went out to check something on the 16V and there was a nice puddle of brake fluid coming out of one of the rear brakes. So, I didn't have anything to do with it! Really!
OTOH, it is something to think about if you're resurrecting a car or your car has been parked for awhile. Brake rebuild kits or new rear wheel cylinders are pretty cheap.
