My Mk1 questions (with pics); your answers

Pull up the carpet and sand down any rust spots that have happened.
If you caught it early enough (no rot like you say) then I would por-15
the area.
I take the preventative approach and simply pull the entire carpet on the
81's and por-15'd the whole floor pan to keep rust at bay..

The mk1 has the drains in the rain tray almost at the edge of the
windshield.
The mk2 has the slits by the fenders, the mk1 has two holes drilled out of
the rain tray and two rubber boots put in there to funnel the water. The
rubber boots should have an X arrangement at the bottom and each leg of
the
X is slit to allow the water out. Usually filled with 20 years of crap
as no one ever cleans them out :)
