Yeah, having your ride totaled SUCKS.I've had it happen twice to me.I was able to get the work done for cheap but it still SUCKS!

  So someone finally did my Scirocco in.  I got rear-ended and I'm at 
  the point where I'm not interested in fixing the damage.  Looking to 
  see what you guys think the car would be worth for parts.  This is a 
  1989 VW Scirocco 2.0L. It has a 2.0l 16v swap with Autotech 
  performance cams, new JE pistons, it's been ported, larger 5litre 
  oilpan, FEBU windage tray.  The engine has about 10,000 miles on it 
  since the complete re-build with all new internals.  The 
  transmission is the close gear ratio GTI tranny and it was put in 
  new along with the newly rebuilt engine.  It has Ground Control coil-
  over suspension with Koni pre-adjustable shocks.  As far as the 
  brakes, it has the large Corrado front brakes with slotted rotors 
  and PBR metalmaster brake pads(all pretty new), and in the rear it 
  has standard 16v brake components with cross-drilled rotors and PBR 
  metalmaster pads.  The exhaust starts with an Autotech tri-y racing 
  header, followed by THE supersprint 2.5 in straight through exhaust 
  with 2 resonators, finished off by the Super sprint dual round 
  muffler($525 new).  All of the stress bars are the oversized 
  stressbars, poly strut mounts, new control arm bushings, new tie-
  rods/ball joints/axles.  Motegi MR7 16" 7 spoke rims.  Needs tires.  
  8mm plug wires, pretty new 90 amp alternator and starter.  Interior 
  is ok, someone broke into my car just after i got hit so the front 
  small window is broken(the rear-view mirror window) and the console 
  is a little damaged, and the usual rip on the driver's seat.  I also 
  have a brand new Reiger GTS front bumper(never been painted) and a 
  new set of now rare Mattig cup style mirrors.  I was only one week 
  from sending it to the body shop and now i don't have the ambition 
  to fix it since it's been hit(plus my wife is getting on me for not 
  having a more family oriented car.  If anyone would have an idea of 
  what I could get for it as a whole, please let me know.  I'm not 
  really interested in selling pieces individually, but I may consider 
  it in the long run.  I was thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of 
  about $2500?  Almost all the parts are less than 3 years old, if not 
  newer than that.
