MkI fuel accumulator question

I'm trying to track down why I keep having bad injector spray patterns in
my 1979. So here's one, do ALL Sciroccos have a fuel accumulator? I can't
see one, I haven't dropped the fuel pump to confirm, but is it possible
that the car just does not have one? It's a non-O2 sensor CIS car. If the
accumulator s lacking/non functional, what are the effects/symptoms? I
don't have a hot start problem, anything besides vapour lock?
