Fuel resevoir and gas tank removal???

having been under there this past weekend, i share your pain about
the fitting sizes. i think the problem is that the rust turned a couple
of my 14mm into 13mm. as for your filter/tank, i can send a picture from
eta to see what it all goes to. you should be able to remove it without
having to drop the tank. i'd suggest checking all the rubber "bulk" fuel
lines for dry rot as they can be easily and cheaply replaced. also check
the line from the accumulator to the pump. they're not terribly
expensive but i've only one new one from 12 different parts cars if that
tells you how often they go bad. any sort of pressure or tweaking on old
hoses can cause cracking and failure (think vacuum hoses in the engine
bay). last thing i would suggest is check the accumulator itself. there
is a screw on the back of it. if you start unscrewing it and the back of
the accumulator becomes wet, the diaphragm inside is failing. it can
present a non-start, vapor-lock issue and you'll not get the necessary
gas up front (ask me how i know). just because it's wet doesn't mean it
won't start, but just something to be aware of. lastly, if you live in
the rust belt, you'll probably want (need) to replace the rubber mount
on the fuel pump bracket/housing as it'll most likely separate. good luck.
