OK so summertime is coming, and so is Cincy. And I am looking forward to
both with great anticipation. So much so, that I want to do Cincy twice
this year. And I enjoy both the cars and the company enough that I want to
host a gtg of Scirocco people at my house.
Those of you who know me, know where I live and what our tech
days are like. I want to do the same thing but on a more grand , weekend
long, scale. It will be Cincy, only East.
I live on sixty acres of waterfront on the Patuxent River in
Maryland. I am about an hour south of the Capitol Beltway , and about 30
minutes from the rt 301 Harry Nice MD/VA bridge if you would be coming from
VA. Guests will be invited to show up as early as Friday afternoon and
leave as late as Monday morning. Anyone who would like to, will be able to
pitch a tent and camp out all weekend. (campers and RV's will be welcome
too) I have more than enough mowed field around my house for oodles of
Sciroccos and tents. As long as the guest #'s don't get too ridiculous, all
that I can accommodate will be welcome to use the shower. If the numbers
get huge, I will bring in a bathroom trailer and/or porta podys. For those
who like the feel of a bed, there is a really nice, waterfront, bed and
breakfast a hundred yards down the street, and there are hotels in both
directions less than five minutes away.
I also have a three acre white sandy beach in front of the
house. By this gathering I will have a volleyball net up, and the jet ski
ready to go. Camping, and bonfires will also be welcome on the beach.
Please also feel free to bring your fishing poles and crab nets.(eighteen
inch rocks have been caught off the causeway) There is also a 200 acre
waterfront state park literally thirty seconds down the street. Anyone who
wants to can hit some of those beaches too.
Tech will be another thing. I have a three thousand square foot
garage and plenty of tools, jackstands, etc. Anyone who would like to will
be welcome to pull their Scirocco in and do something to it. I would like
to propose some relatively simple proceedures that some people might not
know how to do such as odometer repair, finding and sealing interior water
leaks, shift linkage adjustment, and the like. Whatever will help any
Scirocco last longer.
For further entertainment I also have constructed a Gran Turismo
Drivers seat. It is made from a BMW leather seat with full electrics
parked in front of a 27 inch TV. There will be a competition for those of
you who think you are good enough;-) Please also bring your guitars as I am
always up for jamming, and have a full set-up in the house, drums and all.
I am wide open for dates, but would like to have some sort of
car gathering on the weekend prior to July 4. If the general consensus is
for the Scirocco thing to be later in the summer I am all for it. Please
post up about whenever you think the date should be.
I would like for this event to be similar to Cincy in that it is
not a show. It is simply a gathering of the characters that the cars bring
together. Please post up and put in your thoughts, dates, and weather or
not you will be able to come.
