Which way to rich-ness?

I have a question about this image:

I was just out in the garage adjusting the mixture on my 8v using the  
ranges specified in it and noticed something.  I got it idling in the  
40-50 dwell range (mostly 42-48), so out of curiosity I hit the full- 
throttle switch to see what my reading would go to and it went UP to  
about 55.  I was expecting down.  So, something is backwards ... vote:

1) my brain
2) my car ... what could it be?
3) the picture
