Is this dangerous?
I'd suspect paint rubbing as well as discoloration from heat, though it
looks like it wouldn't be very tough to either lower the muffler or get the
outlet re-welded to point a bit more downward. Also, I doubt it would cause
a fire, though you can never be too careful about such things.
