It started cracking as I removed it.  It was obvious that it had never been removed, just like how the under-hood foam had never
been touched with anything.

The wonders of Purple Power!  I actually gave up for the evening, as the sun was setting and I wanted to snag a couple of pics while
the light was good.  I also needed to give my hands a break (that stuff strips grease / oil in a non-forgiving manner).
