Just to let you know, the headache's back



Yeah, so here's the work so far: Remove steering wheel, remove dash, grind
away excess metal, borrow gear puller, extract splined tube from steering
column. And add in several emails, and phone calls to Germany. Next will be
cutting an inch off the tube, then I can get on with what I set out to do:
install a delicious new steering wheel. 

Will it work? No clue. But seriously, how many of you have bought new
steering wheels, removed the old one and put the new one right on? Not me,
oh no, this wheel is for the headache. The adapter they sent has a hole
that fits the B3 Passat real well, problem is it's not getting this nice
wheel. (the above surgery was on it, it's in an advanced state of
disassembly anyway)  And the company seems to think there is only one
adapter...they've been real nice about it, but does that sound typical for
this car or what?
