What transmission would YOU recommend?
Got a message delivery failure trying to respond to Brian above, that
only happens after I spend a half hour typing something, so I'm
resending.
I know of no 020 gearbox that came from the factory with an LSD, as in
a Peloquin or Quaife. The AGB in my 16V most definitely did not have
an LSD. Starting in 83 or so IIRC, they had the little spring loaded
flanges which are not to be confused with an LSD although people
constantly refer to them as such. Pulleeeasssseee!!
Corrados had the 02A gearbox. 02A gearsets will not fit into an 020
case, if that's what you were suggesting, and converting the Scirocco
for the 02A can be done, but it's quite a lot of work.
I think Chuck just got done mentioning the ACN he was going to
install. I think we've mentioned quite a bit about different ratios
and swapping out 5th gear to suit our particular cars needs in
reference to your comment about 2.0L gearboxes.
As an example my 84 turbo has 3.67FD, 3.45, 2.12, 1.37, 1.03 and .80 ratios.
My nephew's turbo 8V has 3.67FD, 3.45, 1.94, 1.37, .97, .71 ratios.
My 2.0L 16V has 3.67FD, 3.45, 2.12, 1.44, 1.12 and .91 ratios.
That's the great thing about the 020 gearbox, VW made it for over 20
years for all sorts of different applications and there are all sorts
of ratios available that'll let you customize your gearbox for just
about any need.
