The AGBs have the limited slip differential whereas the FF/FNs have no LSD.
Is that a true statement?
I always thought that Volkswagen never made a tranny with limited slip, but I read a few books that stated the AGB's had one.
Now is the LSD in the AGB similar to say a Peloquins?
Also why we are on the topic of transmission, I was kind of wondering why no one recommend using the gearing out of a Corrado, and using the stock case. Or using an 2.0L gear set in the older Scirocco case? I mean I had a 2.0L aba Jetta that was my daily driver and I got 32+mpg and the gear ratio is much longer than the AGB and similar to the FF/FN box, plus they are easy to source.
What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Brian

Correct.
There are a few 'drawbacks' (if you look at them as such):
- 90mm vs. 100mm (AGBs are 100mm shafts)(so if you're swapping AGB->FF, you
have to get shafts too...and a pressure plate/clutch IIRC.
- the AGBs have the limited slip differential whereas the FF/FNs have no LSD
- they're more expensive
- they're harder to come by
