OT: will temporarily deleting an email addy stop spam?

Hi everyone - a couple months ago, I made the mistake of using this address 
for email notification w/ my cell phone company (Cingular) because I can't 
check my old yahoo addy from one of my clients where I spend a considerable 
amount of time. Since then, my spam count has gone through the roof. I can 
handle getting a couple a day, but when it starts approaching 20+, I start 
getting pissed. And my webmail application (Squirrelmail) doesn't appear to 
offer any sort of filter.

Since I own my domain I can delete and re-instate accounts at will. If I 
delete this email account for a month or two, will the spam engines stop once 
they receive the bounced emails?

Anyone w/ experience on this?
