drive flange scoring?
Yes, the seal can wear 2 grooves into the hardened surface of the CV flange.
You can clean it up with an emerald cloth, or very fine sandpaper. This is a
temporary fix, since the hardened surface is very thin, and it will wear
down again, a little quicker this time. Keep in mind, that it probably took
100K-200K+. to wear it down to begin with...
New flanges are an option, I paid $120, or so, for my set.

Subject: SPAM-LOW: drive flange scoring?
Is it possible for the drive flange to get scored? I thought I remembered
something about how overtime the flanges themselves can get grooving and
cause a loss of oil, even though you might have new flange seals in.
Someone confirm or correct me on that, please.
