Instead of the superbowl..(and an introduction)

Instead of thinking about the superbowl today, I managed to putter around
for most of it..
In no particular order..
Vaccumed the Scirocco..
Vaccumed Moms Intrepid
Lexol'd the lather in my car, then moms car.
Tried to straighten up the garage - it has the detritus of my Grandfathers
apartment in it, years and years of slides, thousands of coat hangers, that
sort of thing.
Did the K&N air filter cleaning on the Scirocco, managed to get it all back
toether in the airbox even!
Took a spin in my new car...
hence the introduction.
I went up to PA (from MD) yesterday and got a 91 Jetta, as seen

It's going to be my daily driver. I have a 50 mile roundtrip commute into
DC and it scares me. With those Euro lighs and bumpers, it wouldn't take
much to make me very unhappy! Not to mention the door dings. It dosen't
need a whole lot, mostly a bunch of $50 upgrades/repairs, with the excption
on a new clutch & rear main seal, and the dreaded mk2 Heater core
replacement.
I tell myself that I'm going to leave it stock, but it is just crying out
for smoked turn signals and corner lights!

In other Scirocco news, I'll be driving the Red Baron up to State College PA
next weekend (163 miles, 3.5 hours) and can't wait to try it on the mountain
roads.. I've always ridden with family in the big cars. WHich, while
wonderful on the highway, leave something to be desired sometimes. I think
the 'Roc will be a blast, with it's close ratio transmission on the two
significant (by east coast standards) grades that always have the slushboxes
hunting..

So there you have it.
Hope you're all having a great weekend!
