testing cooling fan and thermoswitch.

my radiator never seems to turn so i jumped the
terminals per the bentley.

when hooked to the middle terminal it spins, when
hooked to the 1st terminal...nothing.  i did notice
some corrosion going on with the 1st wire.

moving on...checked for voltage on red wire terminal
and i got a straight reading of 12V. 

the fan is supposed to start when i start the car
right?  is it a bad thermoswitch?


the other things is when i have the car running at
idle i keep hearing this noise near the fuel
distributor that sounds kind of like the whirring the
fuel pump makes.  is this normal?
