I wouldn't worry about the warm air deflector crap.  In my experience
it doesn't do a damn thing.  Your problem sounds like the idle air
stabilizer valve isn't working properly.  I'm an 8v guy though, so
that's only a guess..

Are you 100% sure your cam and ignition timing is correct?
