  If it wasn't a good 28 hours from here to Dallas, I might just take you up on the ribs & beer offer ;) Out of curiosity, what part of TX are you actually in? At one point, I had considered moving out to the El Paso/Las Cruces area (after visiting a friend down there) but ended up staying in New England. Also, the '80 Scirocco I just picked up lived in Austin from 2000 to 2005 after coming out from Santa Rosa, CA where it had lived since 1979.
   
  On a side note, how are you trying to set up your home network (peer-to-peer, client/server, etc)? We can take that subject off list to keep from boring everyone else though ;)

temps will be in the 90s after next week.Then painting will be a little 
easier.
Today I'm going to give Rose a good detailing today in preparation for 
the VW week end in Eureka Springs Ar.Aug. 25,26,27.It's a fun weekend with a 
BBQ,car show, parade and a Sunday cruise through the NW Ar.countryside.
Oh, I almost forgot.I'm going to BBQ some Ribs this evening.Come on down 
we've got some beer too.

Its 5 am and I am wide awake. 3 hours before I can work on the car...
I already pulled one strut housing off the MKI, gotta get the other off, 
then swap them for the ones on the red MKII.
Harborfreight's wheel bearing puller will not be here for another 4 days 
(arrgghh), so I am swapping the parts to get the new car safer for driving. 
Then replace all the little "clipit" wire joins with solder and heat shrink 
in the engine compartment. Ohhh and check the motor mounts (F&R) to see if 
they need replacing. Ohhh and the other Disk on the rear brakes (Man... 
soooo much easier than drums)....
Next weekend, the E brake cables and MAYBE swap the 2Y (short ratio) for the 
ECN (long ratio) transaxles. Then the car will be a sprinter.
Well thats MY Saturday. See.... Getting ready for Cincy already :)
