Brake dust/etched wheels

  The wheels (teardrops) on my '88 are severly etched and pitted, and 
  stained pretty bad with brake dust.  I got the smooth surfaces pretty 
  clean, but I was wondering if there is anything that will dissolve and 
  remove the staining in the pitted areas.  I used Simple Green and 
  Castrol Super Clean for the wheels, and they came out pretty decent.
