Lockup advice?
It would be unfair to generalize the characteristics of all Ferodo pads.
They make more than one 'formulation'.
Some of these are competition-type pads and will, as you say, require more
heat for them to perform at the optimum. Other pads are more
street-oriented and, while not able to work most effectively at very high
temps (autocross/track use), will perform quite nicely when 'cold'.
This would be true of almost every brake pad manufacturer.
