Can this be said on the list?

Ironic. I know I read that drum brakes actually have better stopping
ability than discs. More contact surface area, a leading shoe design helps
draw in the friction material, etc etc. May be wrong, but I swear I came
across it in a performance brake book I have somewhere. Hell, Big rigs
still use drums. They offer superior stopping until they fade. Which is
when discs outshine drums.

Drums are lighter. May or may not be a concern.

I run 200mm rear drums and 10.1" front brakes on 2 of my VWs right now.
Stock 20mm master cylinders in both (you do NOT need to go to a 22mm for
10.1 fronts). Braking is great.

I always enjoy people that say "that's just your opinion" when they
can provide no objective data themselves considering that lack of
objective data is pretty much the definition of "opinion".
There's no denying that disc brakes are better than drums. More linear
in their response to pedal pressure and more fade resistant and lots
easier to change pads and perhaps even cheaper for the OEM, all things
considered.
