carfax needed & inspection request (bartlett/chicago area)

   my dad, for whatever reason, has his mind set on this car:

   he was not the high bidder in the auction but was offered a second 
chance at his price of $2,900. considering the reserve wasn't even met 
at $5,600 we are a bit skeptical. still, good deals are out there. i was 
wondering if the list carfax is up and running and also if someone might 
be willing to take a look at the car in the next couple days to help us 
ensure that everything is legit. he'd like to pick it up this weekend 
(ALWAYS tells me things at the last minute) but we'll see how that goes.
