inner tie-rod ends?
hopefully you haven't already done your outers...in the Toronto area we
have a cheap aftermarket VW parts supplier that gets these italian made
complete tie rods (under $30 CDN each)...so for example on my 83 Jetta,
when one of my outers was going, and one of my steering rack boots was
ripped I decided to do it all in one shot...total cost for
2 tie rods, 2 boots and the two zip-ties (black of course) to keep the
boots on was about $75 CDN all in.
while I was in there I realised it was a good time to do my balljoints and
a arm bushings as well.
I did it once and got one alignment...this way I know I'm good for a
couple years easy.
The only real issue with replacement is clearance for a wrench on the big
nut that holds the tie rods to the rack (having a 4pt 16V rocco lower tie
bar doesn't help either)....but it still easier than doing it on a PS
equipped mk2 jetta.
cheers
