[ot] passat vr6 no start - abs control unit?

   i'm in need of some help here as tomorrow is sunday and i need to get 
this car figures out. in question is a '94 passat vr6 5 speed. 
occasionally it does not want to start. i've replaced the ecu relay, 
crank position sensor, and the ignition module. temperature and weather 
does seem to matter. in an effort to locate the ecu (i didn't have tools 
at the time), i found the abs control unit underneath the rear seat. i 
wiggled the connector, turned the key, and the car started. later on the 
car refused to start again (after running fine not but a couple minutes 
earlier). i wiggled the connector to the abs control unit once more and 
the car started. i'm wondering, does the abs control unit send 
information to the ecu to indicate whether to start or not or is this 
simple coincidence? any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated. thanx.
