Hey Blake,
Both the broken spring and the bad master cylinder are things you
can fix yourself. With cars the age that we have, taking them to a
mechanic leads to a short relationship! I put a re-manned MC in my 86
about 4 years ago. It pretty easy. The only thing I would have done
differently is to paint it before I put it in. Not for a flashy
color, but to keep the surface rust off. Get a Bentley manual as soon
as you can.
