Removing and Installing Transmission

I pulled my tranny by myself 15 minutes ago.
Put a floor jack under the oil pan, another in the middle of the trans.

Removed the lower mount completely.
Removed the single bolt from the driver's side mount...left the mount on the
trans
removed all of the trans to engine bolts
Removed the front mount completely.

Carefully lowered both jacks a little at a time, until the 5th gear housing
cleared the body.

Jockeyed the trans away from the motor (about 3/4")
Lowered the motor a bit more and the trans, too, keeping them as aligned as
possible.

Pulled the trans away from the motor until the input shaft cleared the
flywheel.
Opened the valve on the jack supporting the trans so it would lower slowly,
rolling the jack and pulling the trans away from the motor.

Jacked the motor up to its normal level
Installed twin 2x4's and chain to support motor so I can drop the pan, etc.

That's the way I do it.

Jim
