Because you need to swap the pistons as well. 8V piston with 8V head, and
16V pistons with 16V head.

Yes

You just said it. ;-) The tall block is taller. The 9A/3A/JH are all the
same height.

FYI, I am building an 8V 9A/3A combo. Why make it simple. ;-)
