It was probably a 1/8th scale, OFNA or something of the like. I have a couple of them--One 1/8 scale, and two 1/10 scale models. The 1/10th scale sedan (HPI Nitro RS4 Racer 2) has a two speed and will actually break traction when the centrifical clutch engages at 35mph or so. I had that one clocked at 56mph (I believe) in Bremerton Washington. The cop was a dick though and wanted to lecture me about how I could hurt a kid or some bullshit like that. And wanted to quote some obscure law I was breaking...
If you go to Nitro RC's website they had a Super RS4 which is just under a 1/8 scale that broke 105mph on a runway somewhere. If you go any larger than 1/8 scale they start getting into gas powered weedeater motors and such.
I thought about bringing something to Cincy last year but wasn't sure if the radio gear would interfere with the airport and vice versa. Nothing is more disheartening than to see an expensive car take off out of control, cause you know it's going to be ugly.
As for your question... there is generally very little in the way of lexan bodies for VW's. I have found beetles and that's about it.

Tonite after my 6 day stretch working in MKE, I came out of the new Sears Essentials to see a Elmhurst cop sitting at the far end of the parking lot relatively close to a guy holding a RC remote.
All I heard was a real high pitch whine and a white flash. I got my car and drove down to get a closer look, and this thing was huge!
2.5ft long by 1.75ft wide and from talking with the owner and the cop (who was taking radar at the time) 53 mph in appox. 45 feet.
Drifting? Definately. Reminded me of Anson's video with the german techno.
The cop said that it was faster than my car, well no shit Barney Five, of course it's faster.
But from chatting from the owner there only seems to be 5-6 body shells available for that size of RC, I'm just wondering if any VW shells are available.
Ellen pointed out a Corrado RC at Treffen this year, but it was half the size of this one.
Has anyone seen, or have any info on the larger RC cars because if so, I've found a really big parking lot to run it at and the cops will cheer me on.
Thank you for flying Midwest Airlines.
Scirocco content: I finally have three days off to find the minor oil leak and pull the bumpers off to rehab. Suspension pending Daun, but he's busy too.
