Job offer in NYC
Depends upon where you would be living.
In NYC: forget it.
Outside of NYC, you'll have a wide range of choices and costs. It's a
completely different world where I am (50 miles west of Manhatten, still a
good bit of farming), but still pricey, just not as much so and it's roomier
(and safer). You could find an appartment and do ok if you live simply, but
forget about buying a house, unless you already have a wad of cash.
$70-80k a year gets you into condo living, if you have some downpayment
money.
But there are other NJ suburb towns that might work, depending upon your
needs.
Give me a call and I'll run down some options with you. I'm a mortgage
consultant and I know a couple of realtors, as well.
Jim
PS: Congrats on getting out of there before you got no knees left to hold
you up!
