My soon-to-be 84.5

So, here are the pics of the new addition to the
family.  The spawning continues.  I wrote about it in
a post about a week ago, so I won't go over all the
upgrades.  Safe to say, it is fairly maxed out
mechanically.  I am freaking over the color - it's my
favorite.  And I also think the door guards (bump
strips) actually look really nice on that color.  Here
I thought I'd pull them off based on other pewter
grays I had seen.  Wrong!

A few observations first:

1) Obviously I am going to have to become adept at
bodywork (ugh).  I have about zero experience there. 
The dark red where damage is located is a rust
inhibitor he applied over a decade ago (high quality
stuff from Eastwood).  I forgot the name but he
mentioned it to me.  He thinks as I do - make it a
mechanical monster first, make it pretty second.  And
it is.

2) I am concerned about the passenger door bump strip
and the section on the passenger rear quarter.  I am
not aware if you can reattach sections or not?  I sure
hope so.  That is a rather small section anyways that
is missing, so hopefully it is not too bad.  If it can
be replaced, I am in the market for good ones and
would pay appropriately.

3) Debating the shaved hatch look.  I don't know - I
like the Scirocco GTi badge.  But that can always be
stolen or fall off.  That crap continues to be an
attachment annoyance.  Grrr.

4) Wheels kick complete arse.  Nice 16v brake upgrade
in there.  The entire wheel well is, IMO,
appropriately filled in and the car at the proper
height.  Plus Two setup.

5) Got some nice euro stuff to throw on next year
after the bodywork and paintjob.  Or whenever that
gets done.   One thing to do during the winter on warm
days (again, apartment hell) will be to start cleaning
up that engine bay.  I think if I paint anything, it
will be black.  

But this *will* be showing up at Cincy 2006, I can
gua-rant-teeeeeeee.  Cannot wait!
