How did you get your first....
So my youngson is nearing Driver's License age. Saw an '81 "S" in the auto
trader. Went to look. Owned by a cool autocrosser (still friends to this
day) who was going to make a project car out of it (oil-burner) but ran out
of time/space/money. Bought it. Drove it myself for two months until
youngson got his DL. I really liked it. (He wasn't thrilled, wanted a
Mitsubishi).
Two years later, I needed a new DD. Saw but one Scirocco in the Auto
Trader; a white '87 16v in good shape. Went to look. Had some driveability
issues. Talked him down a little and bought it. That was five years ago.
Took care of the driveability issues easily (simple stuff). I still have it.
It is all original with 223,000 miles and runs like a top.
(Youngson still has the '81. It's been turbo'ed. Twice. It's his
project/track car and runs like a raped ape...it may be as quick, when he
has the boost turned up, as my Y-body. Been in two minor fender-benders and
has had two motors and two gearboxes.)
