What's the procedure for title transfer in CA?

The Release of Liability form is to protect the seller. It tells the DMV 
that you're no longer owning the car in case it's used for some illegal 
activity or something. Also, if you don't submit it, the DMV will come 
after you for fees with the registration expires. Trust me on this one - 
the last three cars I sold were all to out-of-state people and each time 
I got a reg. renewal notice  from the Dept of M(isguided) V(agrants).

I'd say check with the shipping company and whether they need the pink 
slip to allow them to ship it. Otherwise, I'd FedEx it.
