Fuel pump question

Thats what i thought it was at first. After i replaced the copper
washers, i found that the banjo bolt was so rusty that it had a pin
hole in it and was leaking there.

SO i thought if i just replaced the banjo bolt/hose to the accumulator
I could get by, nope accumulator rusty as hell, cant get hoses off.
So i figured i try and run without all that crap.

What the hell does the accumulator do by the way?

thanks
