Spent the weekend under my GF's BMW 325, replacing the clutch (among other
things) Did you know that a broken clutch release bearing can cause a
no-start condition for a BMW 325?

I hate working on her car. Everything's a hassle. For instance, compare
the steps needed to replace the starter VS. a Scirocco:

On the Roc-
Open hood. Remove starter bolts. Remove starter. It can be
done in 5 minutes. If you work carefully, you won't even get your clothes
greasy.

On the BMW-

To remove starter:
Jack up car.
Remove exhaust system.
Remove exhaust system heat shields.
Remove driveshaft.
Disconnect shift linkage. Remove shifter console.
Unbolt rear transmission mount.
Using jack, lower transmission tailshaft 6 inches (This allows you to get
access to the starter bolts)
Heat perfectly good Craftsman 17mm box wrench cherry-red so you can bend
it to a suitable shape to get at the starter nuts.
Remove starter bolts and nuts.

Now, the starter is loose... but, in order to actually remove the starter,
you must pick one of the following options:

a)	remove clutch cylinder
remove all tranmission mounting bolts (including the PITA one on
top of the bellhousing that takes an hour or so to get.)
	remove transmission.
	remove starter (yay!)

or

b)	drain cooling system
remove any heater hoses and cooling system hoses which are near
the starter.
	unbolt and remove intake plenum.
       remove starter (yay!)
